Our Instructors
Shea Brooks
Shea started training animals when she was in High School. She was the head horse trainer on her families horse farm, and trained several foals and young horses to have successful careers in Eventing and Dressage. She always loved watching dog agility and felt it was the canine version of the equine sports she loved. When Peppa, a spunky, energetic, Sable Parti Pomeranian, came along she KNEW what she wanted to do. She researched agility trainers in her area and was lucky enough to find Paige Port who trained at a local field. Paige gave Shea and Peppa a wonderful foundation and in what seemed like no time at all they were running in their first trial. With the instruction from Paige and several well respected trainers Shea ran Peppa to Masters.
As Shea traveled to various shows she realized there weren’t many within a three hour distance from her. Around that same time she learned of Barn Hunting and decided to help in the creation of Aiken Barn Hunt. She transformed her small farm into a Barn Hunt training facility and one of her pastures became her personal agility training area. She continued to improve the equipment in both her Barn Hunt arena and her agility field. Her positive “CAN DO” attitude helps bring all of her students and fellow team mates together and creates a stress free environment with an emphasis in supporting one another. She encourages everyone that works with her to also work with other trainers and believes there is something to be learned from everyone!
Shea now competes with her Mudis, Gryffin and Wednesday in a variety of sports. The Pomeranians gave her a start in the dog trial world and the Mudis are giving her a college degree! Watch out for them at shows because they are incredible to see!
Do note the Poms are loving their retirement to couch fluffs and Peppa is still the boss of the house!
Fawn Kovach
Fawn Kovach started at an early age riding horses. She grew up doing multiple disciplines, including barrel racing, dressage, and eventing. She also grew up with always having the family dog sleeping next to her in bed. Then on June 25, 2014, the course of her life changed from horses to dogs with the birth of her very own German Shorthaired Pointer puppy that she helped birth, who was named Parker. Her and Parker have competed in 10 different dog sport disciplines over the years earning advanced titles in most of them, including his Barn Hunt Champion title. Three years later a special little GSP girl puppy was added to the family and became Fawn’s one in a million, heart dog. Bailey has also excelled in many disciplines but most of all the sport of Rally. She became a Rally Champion in an extremely short period of time and also has multiple advanced titles in other disciplines including her Barn Hunt Champion title.
Through her dogs, Fawn has been able to accomplish many things in the dog sport world so far. She co-ran a mobile dock for a dock diving organization for over a year, becoming a dock diving judge in the process. That then led to the creation of Peach State Air Dogs which is affiliated with Ultimate Air Dogs. Fawn is in charge of putting on PSAD dock diving events and judging. In between events, She does weekly lessons/practices where she teaches the dogs how to swim and the sport of dock diving. Fawn also gives Rally and basic obedience lessons and conducts classes at CCAC. And when she’s not on the dock or in the rally ring teaching, she is either at dog shows competing with her dogs or barn hunt judging. As you can see, when Fawn has an interest in something, she jumps into it with both feet. Her love for dogs has led her to have the desire to teach them and their human partners different disciplines so they too can excel and have fun together.
